LivePerson announced this week an interesting integration of Live Chat statistics with Google Analytics, which will help measuring the impact of Live Chat interactions on conversion rates. Some of the new reports available thanks to this integration include :

Map Overlay Report: Displays volume and quality metrics of live chat interactions by geographic region
Search Engines Report: Reveals the sources and keywords that drive interactive chats (and resulting conversions)
Reverse Goal Path Report: Lists the navigation paths that lead to the most chats

Automatically included in LivePersons small & midsized business (SMB) products, this new, value-added feature helps customers pinpoint which keywords and marketing campaigns drive visitors to chat; measure and track the impact of these interactions on conversion rates; and develop an accurate profile of visitors who interact via chat and subsequently make an online purchase.

Scraping Links With PHP

Justin Laing have written a good tutorial on scraping links from any website using PHP. Very useful if you look forward making a link analyzer tool. The tutorial uses CURL and DOMXPath to retrieve data and extract links. However you can also use it to retrieve more informations about the same link such the "alt" and "target" attributes.

$alt = $href->getAttribute('alt');
$target = $href->getAttribute('target');

Then you can change your tables accordingly to store these new informations.

Sitemaps are great tool to make search engines better crawl and index your site, and since Google, Yahoo and Microsoft joined together to adopt this protocol you will be more interested now to have a better way to tell them about its location. The answer is in the Sitemaps protocol, the first alternative via robots.txt you indicate :

Sitemap: <sitemap_location>

And the second alternative using HTTP request

<searchengine_URL>/ping?sitemap=sitemap_url

You have to replace <searchengine_URL> with the URL provided by the search engine. Today there is only three big search engines adopting the protocol, but it will be more useful if there will be an automated tool for publishers to ping automatically every time their Sitemaps changes.

Enough spammers I'll say, because Wikipedia added nofollow to all external URLs since last Saturday . It looks like Wikipedia was targeted by some SEO guys running an SEO contest. I'm not sure if it was a fun rumor or no, but Wikipedia admins didn't wait to make the decision and stopped all those who used the free encyclopedia for SEO purpose whatever free or paid.
